"Kolob" is a Mormon word that, roughly translated, means "God's thrown." Some scholars think "kolob" may have evolved from the semitic root QLB, which means "heart, center, middle," in harmony with the hypothetical central position of God's thrown in the universe He has created. It's a word that modern Mormons rarely use. Whether Kolob has literal or symbolic meaning is an unsettled theological question in Mormonism.
