| Sydney Book club - The Great Gatsby |
KarenR - Tuesday, 04 Jun 2013, Sydney, NSW,
The group meets once a month to discuss a book at the Mezze Bar. Despite the name it is a quiet bistro with good meals.
Ths month we are discussing the Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby is a 1925 novel written by American author F. Scott Fitzgerald that follows a cast of characters living in the fictional town of West Egg on prosperous Long Island in the summer of 1922. The story primarily concerns the young and mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby and his quixotic passion for the beautiful Daisy Buchanan. Considered to be Fitzgerald's magnum opus, The Great Gatsby explores themes of decadence, idealism, resistance to change, social upheaval, and excess and has been considered an Americal great novel.
It is also a 2013 Australian 3D romantic drama film. The film is co-written and directed by Baz Luhrmann, and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, and Joel Edgerton. |
| Colour the Bridge and Vivid Light Show Fri. 24th 7pm. |
Call Me Max - Friday, 24 May 2013, Milsons Point, NSW,
2013 is the year you can finally give the Sydney Harbour Bridge the paint job it’s always needed without the usual 272,000 litres of paint.
Using the latest interactive lighting technology, you’ll be able to select a section of the bridge to light up, choose your own colour and watch in awe as your illuminated creation brings to life the beautiful grey arch and spans of this iconic piece of Australian architecture. It’s a rare treat to play with something you drive, walk or cycle over on a regular basis! The result is a beautifully lit bridge, stacked with an amazing over 100,800 energy-efficient LED lights.
North Sydney’s Food and Artisan Markets in Bradfield Park will be the ideal location for watching the Vivid light spectacle on the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The artisan stalls will feature high quality arts and crafts around a light and colour theme. Take a seat on the colourful LED cubes, enjoy warming winter fare from the food stalls and enjoy street theatre and the best view on earth.
Let's meet in front of the Luna Park Face at 7pm to enjoy the view of the bridge before moving to Bradfield Park for some food before walking over the bridge to Circular Quay to enjoy all the buildings with their special light shows.
There will be about a dozen other people apart from the Facetime gang coming along.
See you Fri. night.

I suggest we meet at 1130 so we can wonder around and select our food/wine before sitting down to enjoy some music.
I suggest we meet at the shell scupture at maly wharf at 1130 and then walk down the corso together.
For those who wont be coming by public transport, usually there is a free shuttle bus service will be operating every 15 mins from 11.00am to 6.00pm between the Festival and Kenneth Road, Balgowlah Road and Eurobin Avenue. This is an extra service for Festival patrons who wish to drive and avoid the traffic congestion in the CBD. |

| Friday Drinks At The Lawn Bar (IVY) |
socialanimal - Friday, 21 Jun 2013, Sydney, NSW,
Hope you can join me for Friday Drinks at The Lawn Bar on the second level of The Ivy. A sophisticated urban playground for grown ups, ivy bar is purpose-built to entertain.Designwise, the venue makes you feel like you've wandered into a mansion party and somebody's just unlocked Daddy's liquor cabinet. The space is cushy, lush and leafy. You almost expect a gardener to appear and start pruning the Japanese maple or a maid to begin dusting the lampshades. There are open-air terraces and cabana-style nooks to explore. You can get flirty amid the greenery, eye off the water features, sink your bottom into various sofas or venture up the spiralled staircase (not so easy after a few wines) - as long as your personal hotness satisfies the 'security' staff |
